Ring Stiffness Tester

Applicable Standards
  • GB/T 9647, GB/T 19472.1, GB/T 18477, GB/T 21873, ISO 9969, ASTM D2412-21

Ring stiffness testing machines measure how well circular pipes retain their shape under external loads. To carry out the test, a short section of pipe is placed horizontally between two parallel platens. As the upper platen presses down at a controlled rate, sensors record the force and the reduction in vertical diameter. The testing software uses the force and deformation data and the specimen dimensions to calculate ring stiffness. The deformation measuring device provides a more precise record of how the pipe changes shape under load, particularly when testing plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), and composite pipes. The same test frame can also measure ring flexibility and radial deformation, while interchangeable fixtures accommodate pipes in different sizes.

Features
  • Stiffness testers use precise force and displacement sensors together with a servo drive to keep the platen moving at a constant speed and accurately track small changes in the pipe as it deforms under compression.
  • The testing software manages the loading process, records the measurements, plots the load-deflection curve, and calculates the results automatically.
  • Operators can set the ring stiffness tester to compress the pipe at a constant speed or hold it under a preset load, according to the selected test method.
  • They have a rigid frame to ensure stable support during compression tests, and their standard fixtures accommodate plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), and composite pipes of various diameters.
  • Before the test begins, the required speed, deformation target, and load limit can be entered or changed from the control panel.
  • If the force goes beyond the limit entered by the user, the ring stiffness tester stops automatically, and the travel limits keep the platen from moving too far.
  • Thanks to their low-noise drive and automatic power adjustment, the stiffness testers run quietly and avoid using more energy than each test requires.
  • The ring stiffness testing software lets users set the loading conditions, measurement procedure, and result calculations required by the applicable test standard.
Applications

Ring stiffness testers are widely used for pipe development, factory quality inspection, and independent type testing. Typical applications include:

  • Comparison of pipe designs, materials, wall structures, and production batches
  • Factory quality checks for plastic, fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), and composite pipes
  • Verification of pipes that will be used in municipal drainage and sewer systems
  • Evaluation of pipes used in chemical processing and industrial installations
  • Type testing carried out by independent quality inspection organizations
