Clip-on Extensometer

SUNS SEM Clip-on Extensometer

Clip-on extensometers attach directly to a specimen and measure how much the distance between two contact points changes as the material stretches or compresses. They are suitable for axial tensile, compression, and cyclic tests on metals, plastics, composites, ceramics, and other materials. When used with a transverse extensometer, they can measure the lengthwise and widthwise deformation needed to calculate the Poisson’s ratio of metal sheets.

Available Specifications
Axial Measurement Options
  • Extensometer gauge lengths: 25 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm, 300 mm, and 500 mm
  • Axial measuring ranges: 10%, 20%, 25%, 50%, and 100%
Transverse Extensometer Models

  • H=- 40℃- 175℃ X=- 265℃- +175℃
Features
  • The extensometer continues measuring deformation until the specimen breaks and does not need to be removed before fracture.
  • Users can attach it directly to the specimen and remove it easily after the test.
  • Measurement accuracy complies with ASTM E83 Class B-1 and ISO 9513 Class 0.5 requirements.
  • Several versions are available for tests carried out at different temperatures.
  • Users can adjust the gauge length according to the specimen and test method.
  • The measuring arms and other replaceable parts are easy to access for maintenance.
