Side-Entry High-Temperature Extensometer
- Gauge length: 25 or 50 mm
- Measurement travel: 5 mm
Side-entry high-temperature extensometers use measuring arms that reach the heated specimen through an opening in the furnace. They measure small changes in specimen length during static tensile and compression tests. Users set the gauge length beforehand but attach the measuring arms only after the specimen reaches the test temperature. As a result, the strain reading begins after the heating stage and does not count the specimen’s earlier thermal expansion as test deformation. For high-temperature tensile tests, the extensometer also provides the feedback required for strain-rate control under ISO 6892-2.
Features
- The extensometer makes direct contact with the heated specimen and clamps onto it automatically.
- Constant contact force keeps the measuring arms in position and reduces variations from manual attachment.
- Measurement accuracy meets ASTM E83 Class B-1 and ISO 9513 Class 0.5 requirements.
